Turing didn't kill himself? First I've heard

A few days ago, I regretted that Alan Turing had committed suicide. I wasn't the first to do so, after all he died before I was born.
This extract from the Advocate tells us that the famous apple was never tested.
Turing died of cyanide poisoning and a half eaten apple was found near his bed. Legend goes that Turing was fascinated with the fairy tale of Snow White and poisoned himself with an apple to end the persecution he was getting for being gay. But Copeland argues that Turing ate an apple every night before bed (something others knew as well), the apple was never tested for cyanide, and there were no indications anywhere that Turing was anything less than upbeat and forward thinking. He even wrote a to-do list for the next week.
This extract from the same article tells us why he might want to commit suicide.
Knowing Turing's history might make it easy to understand suicide, wrote BBC's Roland Pease. After all, in 1952, after he had reported a burglary, the war hero was investigated for "acts of gross indecency" because he had had a male lover in his house. Instead of prison, Turing accepted what was called "chemical castration," essentially hormone treatment to suppress his sexual desire."
And so if he didn't take his own life, how did he die? Given his war time role in helping defeat the Germans, we could always cook up a Bier und Wurst conspiracy theory, or one analogous to the Russian chemical poisoning a few years ago. But according to the article that the BBC ran three hours ago and which is quoted in the Advocate, his death is thought to have involved inhalation of cyanide, or accidentally dipping his apple in it. Whatever.

PS whilst on the BBC page, the video is to be seen.

We impersonate

From an article about the 2010 film Beginners: see trailer below. See also Wikipedia
I think if you’re a gay man who was born in 1925 and whose very first sexual feelings are towards other men, you have to learn an impersonation of a straight man, and he did that for a long time.’’ Heterosexuality wasn’t normal to him “and so he had to figure out the way it looked and play the part.

Gay rights are human rights

It's official - the US Secretary of State declared it so on Dec 7th 2011.
I demand an annual pubic holiday to mark her pronouncement.

Is it not strange that a country which has so many legislative incongruities regarding gay rights, should drop hints to less enlightened regimes. Why does the word 'regime' have such negative connotations, just BTW? It is not as though Hilary is unaware of her country's mixed record: As late as 2003, some states had laws that made gay sex a crime. And it was only this year that Obama signed into law a bill repealing the "don't ask don't tell" law and allowing homosexuals to serve openly in the US military. This info comes from the BBC website where this story was reported last week (7th Dec 2011).

There are well over 300 reader responses. I haven't read them all. Many of them have been deleted as the BBC's moderators found that they had broken the house rules. They must have been bad, given that the ones that are left are full of hatred, misunderstanding, misinformation, paranoia, nationalism, ignorance and bad grammar. Here's a tickler:
I think if we strengthen family in the west the way God wants us to have it, the number of homosexuals will simply dwindle."
Admirable methinks is the absence of gays taking the bait. Sensible rational people don't even see the need to have this debate.
Key words from the reader responses that are available at the time of writing.
The bigger the word, the more frequently it occurs in the texts.

Gandhi was gay?

Another publication,
another ban,
another sales boost.
another law: please can we have a law that says Gandhi was not gay? or so they cry in India upon the publication of Great Soul: Mahatma Gandhi and His Struggle With India. (Joseph Lelyveld)

See India state bans book hinting Gandhi had gay loverwhere you will read:
It has become a fashion to tarnish the image of great Indian leaders for self publicity and sale of books,” said Sanjay Dutt, spokesman for the ruling Congress Party in Maharashtra. “The government should invoke a law to severely punish anyone who tarnishes the image of the father of the nation.

I, the author of this blog, would like to call for a law that banned people from equating outing someone with tarnishing their image.

As you will also read, the relationship with Kallenbach was platonic.
Oh, I get it. No sex = no gay. Feelings count for nothing.

I'm sure there are millions of teenage virgins around the world today and throughout the history and pre-history of mankind whose hitherto unfulfilled sexual desires doesn't mean that they are not gay. And don't get me started on the Papacy and all that flounders in her.

Is it time to add Gandhi to that great T-shirt, What a difference a gay makes?

Students use online tool when looking for gay friendly colleges

An interesting tho short article from 365 Gay news site. Fancy there even being registers of the gay friendliness of institutions. I wonder how my Czech faculty would rate. Last year, when I was visiting the Australian National University in Canberra, I took this photo on campus.

Gay issues are not listed on the poster, but the URL at the bottom leads the curious to a page called sexuality, where you will read student advocacy to fight homophobia within the university. I ask why there is homophobia on the campus of Australia's sleepiest capital. It also mentions 'Anything Goes' dance party and Queer Brunch, bisexuality day ... Tha'ts more like it!

Fairytale = fairy's tail

An appropriate winner for perverted sodomite-infested Euro-fag Eurovision.

This outstanding piece of homophobia comes from someone called Atossa here.
It is obvious from the title of this posting, also from the talented pen of Atossa, that he has such a gift for the written word that he recognises what a tosser he really is.
The impetus for the cited posting concerned Alexander Rybak's sexuality. So here's a somewhat more raw version of his winning fairy tale with a mere 29,748 viewings at the time of writing.

Boy George sentenced to 15 months

I have just come across this story for the first time this evening on the BBC website. I therefore know nothing about the background, let alone the foreground, and will abstain from any pontificating at this juncture.

However, I would like to make the point that a great number of people over the years are guilty of such things as the premeditated callous and humiliating handcuffing and detention of Mr Carlsen shocked, degraded and traumatised him. of which Judge Radford spoke.

In fact, society at large, bolstered by such august institutions as the all-loving, all-embracing and all-forgivng church, under the stewardship of the our beloved pontifs (see below), is guilty of systematically doing such things to us for millennia, especially if we take Boy George's itemised misdemeanours as metaphors for their innocuous and self-righteous gay-bashing. Ah the damage done to us. We might spare a thought for Der Fuhrer as well. By the way, being gay is not something I want to be forgiven for.

By the way, Boy George's victim was a Norwegian male escort, a.k.a. hustler, slut, prostitute etc. I can't help feeling that this all-loving and all-embracing professional would have preferred to settle out of court than see Boy George in prison. I mean like, who's gonna profit from imprisonment?

Jews and Christians, Fags and Forests - down the plughole, the lot of ya

Can’t believe I am harping on about the Pope again, but his Christmas message did call for peace in the Holy Land after the truce ended last month. Nobody’s listening sweetie – those damned Israelis killed 271 Palestinians yesterday – two days after your Christmas invocation.

In fact, Pope Benedict is offering a Christmas Day solution to the ills of financial meltdown, war and poverty: global solidarity rather than self interest. And that is consistent with another of his messages is it? … save the world from fags. Yeah .. he said that saving humanity from homosexual or transsexual behaviour was just as important as saving the world’s rainforests from destruction. That was only one week before. Global solidarity? He’s good.

What he seems to have overlooked is the call to take over from where his Fuhrer left off – if he put us all in the gas chambers he could reduce the demand on the world’s resources by anything up to 10% in one foul swoop …thereby saving humanity from homosexual …. rainforests …. blah blah blah.

Went to Hacko last night at about 1.00 after watching four episodes of Jonathon Harvey’s Beautiful People which Simon sent me. It’s good. He’s good. Well there wasn’t really anyone at Hacko I wanted to talk to and I was quite happy just to sit there and drink about the world. I did move to the bar cos it got cold leaning against the external wall. Some chap started talking to me or trying to – terribly drunk, I think. The first thing he told me was that he was Jewish (how many Palestinians killed yesterday?). Oh, and straight. And happily married. And kept massaging my fingers and even raised them to his lips to kiss them a couple of times. I think. And we left together in Pan Neumann’s taxi. At my place I said you’re welcome, but I am not forcing you and eventually he instructed Mr Taxi to drive on. That was good given how drunk we both were, but in a soberer, monotheistic and monosexual world, I’d’ve had him like a shot. I did dream about him this morning - staying in a hotel in a large group and we almost got to share a room, but I mixed up his name. Karel, no Adam - how Genesis. He was absolutely lovely, I think.

Equality in the Boy Scouts - NOT!

Boy Scouts of America Resolution

§7 is the one:
Yes, the national officers further agree that homosexual conduct is inconsistent with the traditional values espoused in the Scout Oath and Law and that an avowed homosexual cannot serve as a role model for the values of the Oath and Law.
