The Fifty Greatest Gay Movies

Not a bad list, tis fair to say, from afterelton.com. Have a look and see what you think. The film I most miss from the list would have to be Bear Cub as described here at the 2009 TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL site. Have a gander at this vidette.

And I can't imagine how Dorothy would break the news to Toto that Brokeback Mountain (2005) made it to number 1 when every munchkin knows it ain't no gay movie anyway.

Yet, setting Jonathon Harvey's Beautiful Thing (1996) in the #2 slot gets them off the hook - a bit. I wonder if they've seen his post-modern off-the-wall Beautiful People TV series ... thank you Auntie.

Now that brings us to ponder what these things are doing so far down the list?
#12 Torch Song T9rilogy (1988)
#22 Shortbus (2006)
#43 Transamerica (2005)

And surely, if Maurice (1987) kix in at #5 , where on Earth is Another Country? Watch some nice moments in the clip below and you'll see what I mean. Bear in mind that this music is not from the film, the rooly trooly score of which is very fine. The uploader (and snip editor?) of this vid, Mistletoe04, is clearly giving like-minded us the feeling of the pre Great War public school costume drama that we'd kneel before Rupert James Hector Everett to see. Another Country goes to pains to tell us why a faggie elite boys' school school boy would go on to betray his country. Oh my! And how!

Just for comparison, here is another list of ten must see gay films, only two of which are on AfterElton's list of fifty. How plurigay our world must be!
